Print Swap Holiday Exhibition

I am excited to announce that I have work in the 2018 Print Swap Holiday Exhibition opening at ROOT Studios in Brooklyn, New York on December 13th. This is the eighth international Print Swap exhibition and the largest thus far. The exhibition was curated by the team of Print Swap editors and has no fixed theme, though the connection between nature, humanity, and the built environment seems to be a recurring motif.

The piece I have in the show is a reworked image from my personal work series “Interacting With My Past” shot back in the midwest. For me it really evokes a sense of nostalgia that I have for wintertime and the places I grew up in the midwest. As a kid, growing up in Michigan and Missouri winter was always a special time that I rarely experience now that I live in Arizona. My personal work explores narrative storytelling through photographs and multi-media, usually consisting of constructed realties that cross over into implied fiction.

Just some background on The Print Swap… In 2016, Feature Shoot launched The Print Swap “in hopes of connecting photographers across the world”. Images are selected by the Print Swap jury after submission and every selected Print Swap photographer gives a print and receives a print especially chosen for them by another artist somewhere in the world, regardless of whether or not they are selected for one of the exhibitions. It’s free to submit to The Print Swap, but selected photographers pay $40 per image to participate, which covers printing and shipping in full.

The exhibition opens Thursday, December 13, 2018 with a reception from 6-8pm EST at Root Brooklyn, 131 North 14th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211. Check it out if you are in the area. Here is some info about Print Swap exhibitions.
